Patients find that the recovery after otoplasty is usually easy, allowing the patient to return to work within 4 or 5 days on average. Bandages are removed the day after surgery so that Dr. Bresnick can check the ears. A light dressing is worn for a few more days, and then removed for showering. Otoplasty recovery proceeds quickly, with patients returning to work and non-athletic activities within the week. Light exercise can resume within three weeks after surgery and progress as tolerated. Ear swelling reduces a little each day after the first few days, and patients can show their ears to family and friends within about a week after the surgery and look good. Dr. Bresnick uses dissolvable sutures which do not have to be removed. This adds to patient comfort and an easier recovery. Our patients tell us that the otoplasty after ear surgery recovery was easier than they expected and the results were well worth it!
